The Station, at the heart of sustainable mobility

The SNCF offers middle school pupils a chance to find out about ecomobility - taking the station as a starting point.

The series "The station at the heart of sustainable mobility" consists of five 1-hour sessions. Each session focuses on a key issue regarding ecomobility, building on the school curriculum. The sessions can be used on their own or with the others.

4 types of resources help you to run each session.

The video promotes reflection. Experts talk about issues relating to ecomobility, such as energy efficiency, intermodality and social cohesion...

The teacher's worksheet will help you to lead the session.

The student sheet (and its answer key) offer various multidisciplinary activities covering French, geography, technology and civic education.

A fun and interactive quiz will help your pupils to take in what they've learned. Test it out online and then download it to your computer. (To open it on your computer, right click on the file, choose "Open with" and select your search engine: Firefox, Internet Explorer, etc.).

Unit 1 - Environmentally-friendly design

Unit 3 - The ever-changing modern city

People have an ever-increasing need for mobility. Cities are changing and adapting. Train stations become the heart of the city and are transformed into economic and service hubs, around which a territory's economic and social life is built.

Unit 4 - Accessibility - a basis human right

Mobility must benefit everyone: the disabled, the elderly, foreigners... As public spaces, train stations must be developed with this in mind. Here, the train station is a jumping off point for discussing topics such as disabilities, discrimination, solidarity, etc.

Unit 5 - Social cohesion and solidarity

The example of workplace integration projects to reflect on concepts of solidarity and professional integration and to discover what societal commitment means for a business.
